  • Mathematics is required. Students who did not take Mathematics in school cannot be accepted.

Engineering Programmes

  • Mathematics is compulsory. Students who took Mathematical Literacy in school may be considered only if they achieved at least 80 per cent. Applicants with Grade 12, whether passed or failed, or an equivalent qualification, are preferred. Students who completed Grade 9, Grade 10 or Grade 11 may still be considered based on their competency test results. Students who do not pass the test may be placed in the extended programme.

Safety in Society

Applicants must meet the following:

  • Must be at least 17 years old
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must not have visible tattoos

The Department of Higher Education recommends Grade 11 as the minimum entry level.

Documents Required To Apply for Courses Offered at Port Elizabeth TVET College 2026-2027

All students will be required to submit the following

  • A certificate of Good Conduct from their previous institutions of learning or place of work
  • A certified copy of last school report original must be presented on application
  • 2 certified copies of ID (where a student is 16 years or older) original must be presented on application

Students who transfer from another TVET College must submit the following

  • Reason for transfer
  • A letter to confirm that they have been deregistered at the previous institution
  • A Certified copy of Identity Document
  • A report of their academic history on a College letterhead, including Internal Continuous Assessment (ICASS) and Integrated Summative Assessment (ISAT) results
  • The student’s Portfolios of Evidence for all subjects from the previous institution, if transferring during an academic year
  • A Certificate of Good Conduct from their previous institution of learning.
