NSFAS Application 2025-2026

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) applications for 2025 are now open, and students can apply until December 15, 2024.

What does NSFAS cover?

NSFAS funding covers more than just tuition fees, including:

  • Accommodation: on-campus or off-campus student housing
  • Textbooks and study materials: a study allowance to purchase required textbooks and materials
  • Meals: a meal allowance to help cover food costs
  • Travel expenses: a travel allowance to help cover travel costs to and from campus ¹

Who qualifies for NSFAS?

To qualify for NSFAS funding, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen or permanent resident
  • This comes from a home with a combined gross household income that does not exceed R350,000 per annum for bursaries and R600,000 per annum for loans.
  • Be studying towards a qualification at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.
  • Provide required documents, such as ID, proof of income, and disability documentation (if applicable)

How to apply for NSFAS?

Applying for NSFAS is easy:

  1. Create a myNSFAS account on the NSFAS website
  2. Click on the ‘Apply’ tab and complete the online form
  3. Upload required documents
  4. Click ‘Submit’ to submit your application
