Checking Your NSFAS 2025 Application Status

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) applications for 2025 are open.

If you’ve applied, here’s how to check your application status.

NSFAS provides financial aid to students from poor and working-class households. NSFAS covers your tuition fees and provides meals, textbooks, and transportation allowances if approved.

How to Check Your NSFAS Application Status

1. Go to the myNSFAS student portal.
2. Log in with your username and password.
3. Click “Track Funding Progress.”

Understanding Your Application Status

You’ll see one of these statuses:

1. Application Submitted: NSFAS received your application.
2. Filtering: NSFAS checks if you’re a new or returning student.
3. Validation: NSFAS verifies your information with Home Affairs and SASSA.
4. Funding Eligibility: NSFAS assesses your household’s financial status.
5. Awaiting Academic Results/Admission: NSFAS checks your academic results and institution admission.
6. Awaiting Registration: NSFAS receives data from your institution.
7. Signing Agreement: You need to sign a bursary agreement.
8. Payments: Your allowances are processed.

NSFAS will communicate your application results via SMS, email, and myNSFAS account before the academic year starts.
