Checking Your NSFAS 2025 Application Status

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) applications for 2025 are open. Interested applicant may apply for NSFAS 2025 before the closing date specified. Application will close 15 December 2024. Please, make sure you qualify for NSFAS funding in order to be approved. There will be no late application for NSFAS 2025 so apply on time.

NSFAS provides financial aid to students from poor and working-class households. NSFAS covers your tuition fees and provides meals, textbooks, and transportation allowances if approved.

If you’ve applied, here’s how to check your application status. We strongly encourage all applicants to check their application status on the myNSFAS portal. NSFAS has recently updated its list of provisionally funded applicants due to a significant increase in funding.

How to Check Your NSFAS Application Status 2025

1. Go to the myNSFAS student portal.
2. Log in with your username and password.
3. Click “Track Funding Progress.”

Understanding Your Application Status

You’ll see one of these statuses:

1. Application Submitted: NSFAS received your application.
2. Filtering: NSFAS checks if you’re a new or returning student.
3. Validation: NSFAS verifies your information with Home Affairs and SASSA.
4. Funding Eligibility: NSFAS assesses your household’s financial status.
5. Awaiting Academic Results/Admission: NSFAS checks your academic results and institution admission.
6. Awaiting Registration: NSFAS receives data from your institution.
7. Signing Agreement: You need to sign a bursary agreement.
8. Payments: Your allowances are processed.

NSFAS will communicate your application results via SMS, email, and myNSFAS account before the academic year starts.
